The Golden Temple, also known as Harmandir Sahib, is a stunning spiritual site in Amritsar, India. It is the holiest shrine in Sikhism, welcoming people of all faiths. On that day, British troops under the command of General Reginald Dyer fired indiscriminately on a peaceful gathering of thousands of Indians, including women and children, who were protesting the oppressive Rowlatt Act and demanding greater civil liberties. The massacre left hundreds dead and over a thousand injured, with the exact death toll still disputed. The narrow exits of the enclosed garden left little chance for escape. This brutal event marked a turning point in India's struggle for independence, galvanizing national sentiment against British colonial rule. Today, Jallianwala Bagh stands as a memorial, with a Martyrs' Well and bullet-marked walls serving as poignant reminders of the atrocity, and it remains a site of deep historical and emotional significance in India.

The Wagah Border ceremony, held every evening at the India-Pakistan border near Amritsar, is a vibrant and patriotic display of military pomp. As the sun sets, crowds gather on both sides to witness this highly choreographed event. Soldiers from the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) and Pakistan Rangers engage in synchronized drills, including energetic marching and high leg kicks. The highlight is the lowering of the national flags of both nations, symbolizing unity amidst rivalry.
